Frequently Asked Questions
-
Terra was created to expand what massage therapy can be. Alongside therapeutic massage, we offer treatments like TERRA Facial Therapy and Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage, all performed by Registered Massage Therapists and guided by clinical reasoning.
-
All treatments are performed by Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) in good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. If your employer offers medical benefits, there’s a good chance RMT services are included. We suggest contacting your health plan administrator to confirm prior to booking. Upon completion of your appointment, you’ll receive an RMT receipt that you can submit to the insurer for reimbursement.
-
Every therapist at Terra brings their own style and areas of interest, while sharing the same thoughtful approach to care. Visit our Team page to explore each therapist's profile, or get in touch and we'd be happy to help you find the right fit.
-
Your therapist will take time to understand your goals, health history and any areas you'd like to focus on before tailoring the treatment to you. Every appointment is designed around your individual needs.
-
No. TERRA Facial Therapy is a massage therapy treatment performed by an RMT. It focuses on the muscles, joints and connective tissues of the face, jaw, head and neck to help relieve tension, improve comfort and support overall well-being.
-
Yes, it is safe! All of our therapists are trained in pregnancy massage and understand the unique needs of those who are expecting. We offer specialized treatments, including a pregnancy lymphatic drainage massage, to help you feel relaxed and rejuvenated. Your comfort and safety are our top priorities, and our experienced therapists are here to ensure a soothing and beneficial experience.

On your first visit, we require you to fill out a fairly lengthy intake form that details your health history and reasons for seeking out therapeutic massage treatment. We’re required to do this, and it also gives our therapists the background information necessary to ensure that your treatment is optimized to your particular needs and preferences. As it can take upwards of 10 minutes to fill out this form, we encourage you to do so prior to your appointment. For first-time visitors, you’ll receive a link to this form the day before your scheduled treatment—try to fill it out in advance, so that it doesn’t eat into your scheduled time with your therapist!
-
You can! Massage Therapy is a tax-deductible medical expense, like Dental or Optometric services.
-
As healthcare providers we take your privacy very, very seriously. The information you share on your intake form is confidential between you and your therapist. If another therapist is involved in your treatment, or if your therapist seeks out advice from one of their colleagues, they may share some details, but only among Terra’s other RMTs. If other practitioners operating outside of Terra are involved in your treatment and require any of your personal information (e.g. a physiotherapist), we would always get your express written consent prior to sharing any of your information with them.
-
The time slot allocated for your appointment is exclusively set aside for your benefit. If you happen to cancel or miss the appointment at short notice, it creates a gap in our therapists' schedule that could have accommodated another client. We therefore require a credit card to hold all bookings. Cancellation within less than 24 hours notice (48 hours for couples and groups) or missed appointments regardless of the reason—including illness, emergencies, or traffic—will be charged the full amount to the credit card on file. We appreciate your understanding.
-
If you arrive late, your appointment will still conclude at the scheduled time. So, please do your best to be on time to ensure you get the most satisfying treatment possible. If you can call, text or email us if you know you’re going to be late, that will help to ensure that your therapist is able to make the most of the time remaining upon your arrival. If you’re over 30 minutes late, your appointment will be cancelled and your credit card on file will be charged the full amount. We appreciate your understanding.
-
Certainly. You can specify the preferred gender of therapist when booking your appointment with no questions asked.
-
Not if it makes you uncomfortable. You will be covered by a sheet and blanket at all times, and your therapist will uncover one area at a time and then cover it again when they are finished. The therapist will always explain the treatment plan in detail, including what part of the body the therapist will be touching, and uncovering. If you are not comfortable with any aspect of the treatment, you can let the therapist know and they will adjust the plan to suit your comfort level. You’re always in control.
-
We accept payment by debit or credit card. You may choose to pay by cash, however, we ask that you bring the correct amount. As we are mostly cashless, we don’t always have change. We will issue a receipt for you to submit to your insurer or to claim on your taxes.
-
Tipping is entirely optional at Terra, though always appreciated. We make the option available for guests who would like to recognize their therapist in this way, and 100% of any gratuity goes directly to them.
-
No, but you’ll receive the receipt with all the information required by insurers via email upon payment.
-
Unfortunately it is not. We’re located on the second floor of a building without an elevator, with two flights of stairs to climb.
-
Paid parking is available at Canadian Tire at 839 Yonge Street, and there is limited street parking out front on Collier St. We’re also just a short walk from both subway lines, making transit an easy option.
